DEKALB COUNTY – August 14, 2026. Last night, at The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners Zoning Public Hearing held on Thursday, August 13 at 178 Sams Street in Decatur, Commissioner Terry made a motion to deny the application for a proposed data center in Ellenwood.
“I moved to deny this application on the grounds that it fails to satisfy the Special Land Use Permit criteria contained in subsections (A), (B), (C), (G) and (H) of Section 27-7.4.6 of the County’s Zoning Ordinance. Additionally, the application is inconsistent with the County’s Comprehensive Plan and the goals of the Bouldercrest Overlay District,” said Commissioner Ted Terry.
We still have more work to do: the Health and Environmental Study on the impact of data centers that Commissioner Terry has been championing for over eight months remains held in the Planning, Economic Development, and Community Services (PECS) Committee, deferred now for the fifth time. Today, Commissioner Terry asks the DeKalb community to contact their Commissioners and encourage them to support the adoption of this independent Health and Environmental Study, Agenda Item 2026-0244.
