Brookhaven Annexation Public Meeting

We are facing a pivotal change to DeKalb County’s landscape as Brookhaven explores the option of annexing 462 new acres into its growing city, including portions of the Toco Hills, Merry Hills, and Biltmore Acres neighborhoods (see map below). The annexation petition, which has reportedly passed the 60 percent threshold required to proceed, was received by the county last week.

To ensure all residents of these areas have an opportunity to get involved in this process, District 2 Commissioner Michelle Long Spears and myself are hosting a community meeting next Tuesday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central DeKalb Senior Center and virtually, here: www.YouTube.com/DeKalbCountyGov.

Commissioner Long Spears and I believe that, as this process advances, it is vital to give all residents an opportunity and platform to speak about this development, learn about its impacts and ask questions of their leadership.

We highly encourage all residents to attend this, as well as the Brookhaven City Council’s own public hearing on June 28.  The City Council will vote on this annexation on July 25. To see a higher-resolution version of the map, click the image below.
