DeKalb County is conducting the Stone Mountain Trail Master Plan, which will analyze a segment of the trail and adjacent areas between Avondale Estates and Stone Mountain Park.

The planning effort will identify strategies to enhance connectivity and mobility, accommodate equitable development, create more people-focused spaces, and drive economic development along the trail corridor.

This study is an opportunity for DeKalb County to mirror the success of BeltLine as a trail of regional significance, while also prioritizing the preservation of existing neighbors and their local culture. A key focus of the study is aligning land use, transportation, and economic development opportunities along the trail, while maintaining affordable housing and addressing housing displacement patterns.
