Event Details
Join Commissioner Ted Terry, the Super District 6 Team, and local DeKalb Green New Dealers to knock on doors and let residents of Avondale Estates know that they can participate in a free curbside compost collection program to divert food scraps from landfills and create compost for local programs.
This pilot program is a great opportunity to show the success of a curbside pick up program and the opportunity for composting to expand throughout all of DeKalb County. Never canvassed before? No worries! We’ll meet early to train volunteers and debrief during Happy Hour at the Lost Druid after. You do not need to be a city of Avondale Estates resident to volunteer to canvas and get out the word.
AGENDA:
12:30 pm Meet at the Lake House at Avondale Estates (park on Lakeshore Dr)
12:45 pm Canvassing
2:45 pm Canvassing ends
3:00 pm Meet back at the Lost Druid for a Happy Hour debrief
One drink ticket available for volunteers that complete a 2 hour canvassing shift.
4:00 pm End
This is a free event with beverages and food available to purchase.
This pilot program is made possible through a USDA Grant and the partnerships of City of Avondale Estates, Roots Down, DeKalb County Super District 6, Food Well Alliance, and CompostNow. Click here to learn more about the Avondale Estates Community Composting Program.
